Solution–Focused or Brief Counseling Model: Brief counseling is a short-term intervention focusing on resolving personal issues in the present and future rather than the past. This modality provides students with coping tools in an effort to gain or refine their current coping skills. Check-in or weekly/monthly maintenance sessions are also provided. Counseling sessions are free and run approx. 30-50 minutes depending on the issue and circumstances.
Intake Counseling Process: Please print, complete, and bring the following two intake forms Informed Consent Form and Student Information Form with you to your appointment. The Counselor will review the forms and assess the situation to determine the type of counseling sessions required. If more intensive counseling sessions are required, the Counselor will provide you with off campus community referrals.
Support groups: are available and focus on specific personal issues such as ‘Transition to College’, ‘Relationships’, ‘Grief and Loss’. Special support groups focusing on other personal issues will be established if four or more students are interested in participating. Please contact CWC for an appointment or details on support groups.
Hours: The CWC is open 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday. Please contact the CWC at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment for personal or career counseling and academic support. In your email indicate the purpose for the appointment and the days/times you are available to meet with the Counselor. The CWC will try to accommodate your schedule as best as possible. Thank you.
